There are 30 miles of glorious white sandy beaches stretching from Alicante southwards.

Guardamar del Segura

(15 minutes from 'Casa Alta')

The beaches stretch from the north end of the town to the south. All have the Blue Flag award for safety, cleanliness and facilities, and are swept on a daily basis. There are many bars, ice cream parlours and restaurants between the beaches and the centre of the town.

From the north to the south of Guardamar access to the sea is via:
Mouth of the Segura River and the:
Marina de la Dunas (where many water sports are available, and camel rides in the high season)

Viviers and Dunas de Guardamar
(back onto a nature reserve with palm, pine and eucalyptus trees, dunes and salt lagoons)

Guardamar playa de la Babilonica Centro Beach
featuring huge sand sculptures of considerable architectural/artistic accomplishment where you can watch the artists at work

Roqueta Beach - Moncayo Beach - Playa del Campoamar

La Marina
(6 kilometres to the north of Guardamar) There are 2 long sandy beaches with sun shades, hammocks, beach bars etc.

Platje del Rebollo and Platje de la Marina (about 1.5 kilometres to the north)

La Zenia (25 minutes from 'Casa Alta')
A beautiful sandy beach with a rocky headland at one end, thatched sun shades and loungers, shallow sea and a variety of water sports available. It is south of Torrevieja and just north of Cabo Roig reached by the N332.
There are several restaurants and ice cream parlours in the vicinity plus La Zenia Hotel which has a nice pool and serves a very reasonable buffet lunch.

Cabo Roig
(30 minutes from 'Casa Alta')
To the south of Torrevieja, reached by the N332. It has a curved sandy bay and rocky backdrop topped by typical Mediterranean trees with thatched sun shades and loungers for hire. There is a very nice restaurant on the cliff top-see section on Places to Eat.Alcazares Beach 2

There is a second beach at Cabo Roig, called Cala Capitan, which is round the headland to the north.  It's not as nice as the above, but the little island off it might be fun to explore.

Playa Flamenca
Blue flag beach, non-commercial surroundings, quiet residential area, near to water sports, aqua park, go-karting, tennis, championship golf courses, large shopping complex, 7 restaurants and 5 bars.

Torrevieja
Has 4 blue flag beaches and 2 blue flag marinas

Orihuela Beach
Has 5 blue flag beaches and 1 blue flag marina
